monsters!
I'm in love with Curly Cue which I came across while Googling 'monster wall art' for Lil J's toddler room. They have an amazing assortment of cute 'monster' wall graphics such as Monster, Fire Monster, Furry Monster, and Angry Monster - all available in different sizes and colours starting from $6.99 each. Seriously, such a steal! And shipping is free for orders over $50.00 (Canada & US).

lil j's lil monsters
My current obsession is finding Lil J a bedding set for his twin bed. Since he's only 21 months old and still content in his crib, I'm probably planning way ahead. But, as I have learned in the past 21 months, there really is no such thing as planning ahead. Everything just happens too quickly. You blink and two years have gone by. It's insane.
I was in Chapters with the family and came across the clearance wall in the new Indigo Kids section at our local mall. They had a bunch of monster pillows and stuffed toys and I got to thinking: Wow, that's a great theme for Lil J's room! Little Monsters! I ran the idea past Miss S and, of course, she loved it! Instantly, I googled 'Kids Monster Bedding' on my iPhone. I came across a couple from a companies I have never heard of: Garnet Hill and Company Kids. There is also a couple monster prints available at Target but I decided they were to "kiddie" for Lil J. i know Lil J is a baby still but I'm really down with the modern prints.
I also found a modern print from Kideko at Little Baby Company. Very cute but a little too busy for my taste.
The Garnet Hill print caught my eye until I found one from Bubba Bling. This one is amazing! Everything I want in a monster print bedding set - except it's in Australia (of course!). The great elves behind Bubba Bling are now in the process of sorting out shipping costs, so fingers crossed that it's within my price range!
Which bedding set do you like best? Any other suggestions?

spring (rainy) break
Our Spring Break has been quite interesting so far. I've been enjoying time with my two favourite boys for the past few days. Miss S was supposed to spend the entire week with us but there were a few glitches (not at all surprising). It's quite clear why my husband has full custody of her.
Aside from a little bit of drama, the entire family is together again and we're going to celebrate it by taking part in a little bit of old school action - bowling!!
I swear every time I go bowling and use those big balls with the holes in them, I always break my nails. Must be the way I release the damn thing because it's really annoying! Hopefully Lil J can take part in it and test out his bowling skills.
STRIIIKKKE!!

drama....
Today should be an interesting day. Miss S was supposed to come back from her mom's last night but her mom refused to return her. Evidently, her mom enjoys screwing herself over and over again, and has not learned from past mistakes (long story - not getting into it).
We're also supposed to be going to my parents house which is in a city about 20 minutes from our place. My mom is super anal about time and once we set a time, we have to be there like 15 minutes earlier. But we're always running on my hubby's Jamaican time which means we`re always 30 minutes late. Which pisses my mom off. Oooops.
So now I'm putting off calling my mom until we know what time we're supposed to pick Miss S up.
Ahhh the drama......

the day has come
The day has come where I never thought I'd say I feel like my mom. Tired. Just plain exhausted. Another week has whizzed by and we're almost 4 months into the year. Crazy. Absolute insanity. That's what a day in my life feels like.
You might say I'm a bit spoiled. I go to work full-time, Monday to Friday. My mother-in-law looks after Lil J during the week while I'm making the dough so that Lil J can eat the thousands of oranges he consumes in a week. I come home everyday and my mother-in-law most likely has food on the stove. So I sneak some. Why not right?! I'm always absolutely starving when I get home from work and a girl's gotta eat!
But I tell you - I am EXHAUSTED by the time Friday rolls around. Everything looks blurry. I'm moving in motions as the day dashes by. I slur my words to my boss, my colleagues, strangers, my hubby and my mother-in-law. I'm focused, and only focused, on getting home to my family to start the weekend. And by the time I get home, I'm ready to crash. Like right now. I'm sleep-typing. Yeah, that's right.
So I picture my mom sprawled out on the Lazy-Boy. And, now, I see myself doing the exact same thing.
Haven't I always said I would never be like my mom?
Well the day has come...

Now this is one sale that you do not want to miss! Believe me. Agoo Apparel is cleaning out their current stock to make room for the new season and they are currently offering a 70% discount off of EVERYTHING!!
Yes, you heard right.
EVERYTHING!!
All you have to do is enter the code cleanup70 at checkout.
My absolute favourite would have to be the Hockey Huggers, in Vancouver colours of course! They also have leggings in a variety of colours and designs for boys and girls alike. Perfect for the crawling and potty training stages!
Lil J has the Khaki Time Tushie Huggers and the Rock Steady Tushie Top, both of which have stood the test of time. Or should I say the adventures of a 21 month old toddler's (boy!) adventures. The reason? Agoo uses high quality fabrics and construction to ensure that your active baby is comfortable and stays dry while getting into mischief!
Happy saving!

a morning in the life of .....
ME!!
I started off this morning with my alarms blasting at 6:15am. Yes, alarms - plural. It takes at least two alarms - my clock radio (yes, I'm still old school) and my iPhone, plus 2-3 times of hitting the snooze button to get my sleepy butt out of bed.
In the washroom I walk only to be greeted by darkness because my procrastinator husband has still not fixed the circuit breaker in the garage when the fuse blew THREE days ago. I have no idea where the breaker is, otherwise I would have done it by myself - three days ago. So I have no choice but to flick the light switch and melt at the glare of the light.
Now I'm (slowly) into my morning routine when I realize that for the third day in a row, I would have to straighten my hair in the hallway where the plugs actually work. Trying ever so quietly not to wake Lil J up, I venture out to the hallway and sit down in front of a free-standing mirror. Seriously, these extra things first thing in the morning totally warp my tight time "schedule" and throw me off course. And first thing in the morning, I am freakin annoyed.
But of course there is payback. While taking the mirror out of our room, I made sure to make extra noise so that my hubby would wake up. Hey, don't blame me!! It's out of frustration!
After I'm done in the washroom, I am quietly tiptoeing into the kitchen while banging cupboards (ooops!) getting my cereal prepared and throwing snacks into my lunch bag. Then I rush into the bedroom because I have literally TWO minutes to get dressed and out the door. I hate rushing but I always do it. I always hit the snooze button one last time. I always wake up at the latest possible moment. I always move at a snail pace that even a snail could rival. I always take the extra 5 minutes to cuddle with Lil J (today I didn't have to because it was hubby's turn to wake him up and get him ready).
Oh my god, I forgot to make my coffee!! I rush back to the kitchen and press the purator as fast as I can and dump the coffee into my mug. We have a Nespresso machine too but my lovely hubby has not gotten me my capsules in months! We only have one location where we can purchase the capsules and it's downtown and since I no longer work down there, I don't really get a chance to ever go and replenish my capsule supply.
The last test to see if Lil J will wake up is opening and closing the baby gate and praying that he won't hear it. At this point, I am full-on sprinting. My huge purse bangs against the wall and I pause, waiting to hear Lil J scream. No, nothing. Whew! I tiptoe quickly down the stairs - creak, creak, CREAK! Gotta love hardwood flooring that hasn't been installed properly.
Now it's time to drive to work half-asleep. I love weekday mornings - NOT!!
