A day of bliss

This past Mother’s Day started out with a bang. Literally.

I was woken up by hubby banging {or was it shaking?} on my arm just after 7:15am for help to feed Zoe.  Completely incoherent, I told him that I couldn’t believe he was waking me up so early, and on Mother’s Day of all days! {I later learned that he had, in fact, tried to feed Zoe but she rejected him and gravitated towards me. But, of course!}.

Still mad {or maybe still just incoherent?}, I turned on the TV, fed Zoe, and then rolled over and dozed off.  A short time later, hubby woke me up again – only this time, it was breakfast in bed.  All is forgiven!
The rest of the day was spent with me trying to keep both littles calm and, for the most part, they were fairly relaxed.  This meant that Mommy could actually get to work on Zoe’s party prep! Zoe’s party is less than two weeks away, which means I’m now in full panic mode.

Breathe, Kristina, breathe.

I managed to complete the paper fan/pinwheel backdrop for the dessert table.  It’s a lot heavier than I imagined and might be a bit annoying transporting it to and from the party, but at least it looks good, right?

After Zoe {and hubby!} woke up from their naps, we headed out on an impromptu trip to Costco and a quick dinner at a local steakhouse. Spending Mother’s Day with hubby and the kids was exactly as I had imagined – bliss.  Too bad half of us had the flu!

The evening ended with the usual bedtime routine and a little time to unwind before a start to another work week. I shouldn’t complain though – I live a pretty blessed life with some amazing people in it, which got me to thinking about how my approach to Mother’s Day has changed over the years.  That, in itself, is a whole other story which I may post – one of these days.

And, of course, I didn't get one picture with me in it!  Ah, maybe next time!

How did you spend your Mother’s Day?
