{swank} review: Max & Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite Musical {Presented by Koba Entertainment}

Last weekend I had a chance to treat my family to an evening out with Max & Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite at the Centre for Performing Arts.  What a fantastic treat!  Lil J was extremely excited and couldn't stop talking about Max & Ruby before, during and after the show.  I wasn't sure what to expect but I can honestly say that I was thoroughly impressed!

The show started out with a few elves dancing and getting the audience engaged by singing the Max & Ruby "jingle".  This sure got Lil J's eyes bright and put a huge smile on his face.  He got up, kneeled on his chair and leaned forward for the rest of the show {hopefully the people in front of us didn't mind}.

Ruby came on stage first and, of course, Lil J's first question was "Where is Max?".  Alas, Max made his appearance along with Grandma and the three of them took us on a journey through the Nutcracker Suite.  Our favourite parts were watching the characters from the Nutcracker come to life in the form of beautiful dancers and ballerinas performing graceful routines right before our very eyes.  I also loved how they had dances dedicated to an array of cultures.  Lil J's favourite parts were, not surprisingly, any scene that featured Max & Ruby.

If you weren't able to see Max & Ruby last weekend, I would definitely recommend checking out their show next time they come to town, especially if your little ones are big fans.  What better way to start off the Christmas season than with their favourite cartoon characters?

Did you get a chance to see Max & Ruby live?  How did you and your family enjoy it?
