{swank} review: Wholesale Halloween Costumes

Looking for a last minute Halloween costume but don't want to break the bank?  Go over to Wholesale Halloween Costumes - a website that sells quality costumes that are found in stores all over North America, but at wholesale prices!

Wholesale Halloween costumes was kind enough to supply Lil J with his dream costume - Elmo!  As you may already know, Lil J has a slight obsession with Elmo on YouTube so I was super excited to find an Elmo costume at Wholesale Halloween Costumes at......gasp.......a decent price!!

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the costume which is an officially licensed Sesame Street product.  I don't think the website picture {below} does any justice to the costume.  The outside material is thick and furry and the costume itself is extremely roomy {I recommend ordering one size up}.  At 28 months old, I figured Lil J would fit into a size 3-4T, with the hopes that it will fit again next year!  I will have to roll up the bottom of the legs but, all in all, the costume fit perfectly.

The only downsides I found with this particular costume is that there is furry red fluff flying everywhere and sticking onto everything!  Also, the inside of the costume is made of the classic 100% polyester {which most Halloween costumes are made of} and Lil J was almost instantly sweating in the costume.  Hopefully it will be okay once he wears it while trick-or-treating outside.

Wholesale Halloween Costumes is currently offering $4.99 3-day guaranteed Halloween delivery on orders $50 or more with code THREE.  Hurry on over to their website and choose from a huge selection of costumes!

I'm hoping to get some pictures posted of Lil J in the costume soon - keep checking back! Photobucket

out of the mouth of: miss s

My  husband came home last night after a mini grocery shop and proudly showed me the jumbo box of Special K Red Berries cereal that he got for Miss S.  I noticed that there was still an unfinished box on top of the fridge.  Well aware of Miss S's track record, I said to her:

Me:  Please make sure you finish the box on the fridge before you open the new box.

Miss S:  But there isn't anything in it.

Me:  So it's finished?

Miss S {quietly and shaking her head}:  No.

Me {more sternly}:  So then you need to finish it before you start the new box.

Miss S:  There's crumbs in it.

Me:  So then throw it away and make sure you get rid of the box.

Miss S:  But it's not done.

Me {back to square one and getting annoyed}:  If it's not done, you need to finish it.

Miss S {getting quieter}:  But....

Daddy G:  Miss S - do you understand what "{swank}mama" is saying?  You need to finish the cereal before you open the new box.

Miss S:  Yeeessss Daddy, I know.

OH. EM. GEEEEEEE!!!!

Was that seriously that hard to understand or what?!  I don't want to sound like my own mother by any means, and I'm pretty sure I sound super annoying to Miss S {and I'm glad} but seriously.....

If these are the tween years, I'd hate to see what the teen years will bring.  Especially with a girl.

OMG.

to the man that no one will ever forget

Dear Steve Jobs,

When I heard about your passing yesterday, I {as well as everyone else on this planet} was shocked and saddened.  It wasn't the news I wanted to hear.  In the less than 24 hours since the news was announced, my Twitter and Facebook feeds have been filled with heartfelt messages to you, with quotes that you have made, and the legacy you have left.

I just wanted to share with you, wherever you are, how much of an impact you made on my son Lil J.  At first I was hesitant to get an iPad.  I didn't really need to spend the extra money and I didn't know how much I would use it.  Then my brother made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I scored myself a brand new iPad 2.

That was the best decision I have ever made.

You have taught Lil J the ABC's, how to associate different animals with the noises they make, how to play Angry Birds....and the list goes on and on.  He knew how to use YouTube to watch his beloved Elmo after one time of showing him.  He basically figured out how to use the iPad before I did!

Lil J on the iPad.  Picture taken with my iPhone.

Don't get me wrong.  I don't let him use the iPad all the time.  I use it as a tool for Lil J's learning curve.  I use it when I need some quiet time.  I use it so he can watch his favourite Elmo YouTube video before he goes to bed.  He has learned so many things via the iPad.  It also calms him.

You have made moms' {and dads'} lives easier all around the globe.  You have revolutionized how our kids learn.  How they develop.  And I am forever grateful.

Thank you, Steve  Jobs, for being the visionary for our planet.  May your legacy continue forever.

From,
One Thankful Mama

i'm not ready for this....

People have been telling me for a while now that Lil J is going to start really "talking" - as in sentences - pretty soon.  I, myself, have been fantasizing about the exact moment for months now.  The day I'll be able to talk to him and actually get a comprehensible response.  But then it occurred to me that I am actually enjoying the current moments with Lil J.  He understands everyone and does things as told {half the time}, yet it still surprises us every time he does actually understand!  I'm not sure if I'm ready for him to speak full sentences!!

Guess I better be careful what I wish for.....

Last night I came home after a long day at work and an even longer night at school {I was so tempted to leave class after the instructor just droned on and on about meaningless topics just to pass time} and Lil J was excited to see me when I finally walked in the door.  So excited, in fact, that he just kept talking and kept talking.  Half of it I didn't understand, but the other half.....was surprisingly English!!  Wow, I thought to myself, this is crazy!  And then for a split second, I thought I had wished for something too soon.  I kind of wanted Lil J to go back to his one word answers.  Back to his complete gibberish.  I wasn't ready yet!

But it really isn't about me, is it?  It's about him.  My Lil J.  And he is ready to express everything that he has held inside {or screamed out loud} for 27 months.  He is no longer my baby:

Daddy and Lil J {fresh out of the oven!}
He is now a little man:

I just can't wait to hear what he has to say next!!
